I really like #4, but am a little unsure about how #61 will turn out.
      But what do I know.

If that sumi comes up on the sides and head, you are gonna be real happy with #61.

      That's right, IF!
Also hope the body and head will eventually thicken up.

      Recieved mine but missing #61!

Recieved my fish Friday plus an extra showa Russ picked out for me, but minus #61. Instead got Skital's pick, #64. Disappointed, but how disapointed can I be when the fish are all so nice? Russ generously offered to return the money for #61 and let me keep the fish, but heck, I got 3 great fish so I declined.

I guess Russ will just have to make it up to me by using his skill to pick out some REALLY NICE FISH the next time I buy from him!!

Anyway here they are. They are between 7.5 - 8 inches.

Split tail on #4, flashing by #64

I just noticed the tail split when I looked at the pics close up. Here is a blowup. I'm sure it will heal just fine.

#64 was also flashing and just hanging head down 2 days ago. I did a low level PP treatment and we'll see what happens.

Hi Gil, keep an eye on the flashing, sometimes they will do that with new water conditions. Low levels of PP will not do much but can stress the Koi even more. Keep me posted on how they are doing.

Will do. All 3 are feeding and seem to be behaving normally today.

Gerald, please keep me posted on how #64 turns out. I think you will be very happy with it once all that sumi comes in. I think it also has great conformation, which is why I picked it.

Here's a quick update on your pick, #61. I hadn't considered this fish mainly because of how skinny and narrow it is. In person it is indeed very narrow and has a pointy head (I named it Flipper because it sort of resembles a dolphin). On the bright side, it does have very bright skin and a lot of underlying sumi. I've attached a comparison pic of the selection photo and the day I received it. You can see a lot of sumi has already surfaced, and there is a lot to still come.

Mr. Sakai has two body types. One of them is from his Magoi line which tends to grow long first. They are long and skinny for years and then they start to fill out. Mr. Sakai introduced the magoi into his Koi to increase their size. Don't give up on this one, I think it will surprise you.

WOW! It looks better than the choosing pics!

#64 is doing very well today. All 3 are zooming around and eating like little piranhas!

Hi Russ, got any sleep yet? Does the "matsunosuke" term only refer to sankes? Don't they have the same body development characteristics you just described?

His Sanke and Showa both have Magoi bloodlines in them as well as a "standard" body type.

This Showa has Magoi blood. Look how long and skinny the body is.

      Took update pics today.
      #4 was 8" - today 13"
      #64 was 7.5" - today 13.5" - kinda football shaped.
Don't particularly like how they look right now - look dirty.
look at the shoulder of #64. Also look at the sumi on #4.
Nothing has come up on the blank left side of #64 yet to balance the pattern.
Maybe it's early yet. Will be interesting to see how they develope.

My 3rd fish was selected by Russel.
Left pic when I received it 7.5", right is today 12".
Note the Hi and sumi is receding on the head/shoulder area.
