With that being said, I would love to see what everyone has going a decade later IMO it is one of the best investments a serious ponder can make. Watch them laying on the bottom from every monitor/tv in your house or even anywhere in the world if you want. Watch them happily swimming like they should be. Spot that ulcer, flashing or unusual behavior immediately instead of waiting until a serious issue has developed. Head off health issues at the pass.

The costs keep going down and you may be surprised with the bang you can get for your buck!

I couldn't agree more! This time of year I really don't pay much attention since I'm outside most of the time... but even still
there's nothing like watching them when they don't know you're watching. You may see them act entirely different than when
you're standing out there with a hand full of food.

Mine by today's standards is pathetic... It's been in there for years and I haven't maintained the cabling at all and it clearly shows,
but it still gives enough detail to see what and how they're doing. I haven't priced anything lately but with technology today they probably
cost a fraction of what they did, plus wireless gives them a simplicity I didn't have when I installed mine. Imo, well worth the investment!

I have had two Lorex cameras. The first one lasted several years but developed water on one side of the lens. So I bought a second one. I haven't used it in years. Main reason is because it has the cable.
I may look into a wireless camera. I bet they do cost less than the Lorex.

I couldn't agree more about the value of cameras. I don't have an underwater cam but I have a couple of HD wired cameras trained of the pond. I staved off a developing ulcer on my SU in the spring after noticing it on TV (pond was still covered at that time). Then while on vacation I noticed remotely that my skimmer got plugged up and called a friend to take off the layer of batting that I should have taken off before going on vacation. I used to have wire-less cams but they were not HD and were finicky unlike like the wired ones I have now so I returned them.

good idea. I have been lucky I have had no ulcers in over 2 years they usually seems to happen in the belly area in winter. once the ulcer is noticed from our view the fish will be showing signs that something is not right. isolating or not eating the same. getting a hold of the ulcer is much easier.. no injections etc once it gets bad

While we're on this topic, does any one have links to good under water cameras (wired/wireless). I don't want to spend a fortune on top-of-the-line ones. I just want to look for ones that decent enough to view koi underwater, especially in winter time when the pond is covered to make sure they're OK. Thanks-
