In case you have all wondered why I havent been here all that much lately, here is why...
The housing crunch has led to many many German Shepherds being dumped at kill sheltersPeople are losing their homes, and cannot take such a large dog with them to apartments, due to lease constraints. Shelters are finding dogs tied to their front doors, when they arrive in the morning
Shelters that used to hold dogs for 7-10 days can now only hold them for 3 days-5 days and many have changed their policies so the day dogs become elible for adoption, is also the day they become eligible to be euthanized
Julie and I have been racing the clock, grabbing dogs from the jaws of death. There are so many, that its like trying to stick your finger in the dam to hold back the tidewaters.
Julie's food bill for the animals she is fostering is running $1200 a month! We could certainly use some help here! Julie is a registered SC non profit Charitable Group, and she can provide that info to whoever would like to see it.
If you can help with the cost of feeding the dogs that are being pulled from the shelters, please contact either Julie or myself. If you can foster, we need fosters desperately! There are so many GOOD dogs at the shelters, now, with no issues, and not enough places to foster them to keep them aliveJulie has the room to put in more runs to hold these dogs, until they can be rehomed, but the runs cost money. Does anyone know of any suppliers that would discount or donate runs?
Please have a look at the Last Hope Safe Haven Urgent Board. I stopped posting the urgent dogs on koiphen because I know it changed hands and didnt want to overwhelm the board, especially in the light of the flap over the animal secton in the past. Last Hope gives money to rescues to pull, vaccinate and spay/neuter dogs, but they aso need help!
Please have a look and let us know if you can/will be willing to foster any of these fur kids that have had to be ripped away from their families. Here is one of the beautifulfemales that needs a savior
