    Begging For Some Help!

In case you have all wondered why I havent been here all that much lately, here is why...

The housing crunch has led to many many German Shepherds being dumped at kill shelters People are losing their homes, and cannot take such a large dog with them to apartments, due to lease constraints. Shelters are finding dogs tied to their front doors, when they arrive in the morning Shelters that used to hold dogs for 7-10 days can now only hold them for 3 days-5 days and many have changed their policies so the day dogs become elible for adoption, is also the day they become eligible to be euthanized Julie and I have been racing the clock, grabbing dogs from the jaws of death. There are so many, that its like trying to stick your finger in the dam to hold back the tidewaters.

Julie's food bill for the animals she is fostering is running $1200 a month! We could certainly use some help here! Julie is a registered SC non profit Charitable Group, and she can provide that info to whoever would like to see it.

If you can help with the cost of feeding the dogs that are being pulled from the shelters, please contact either Julie or myself. If you can foster, we need fosters desperately! There are so many GOOD dogs at the shelters, now, with no issues, and not enough places to foster them to keep them alive Julie has the room to put in more runs to hold these dogs, until they can be rehomed, but the runs cost money. Does anyone know of any suppliers that would discount or donate runs?

Please have a look at the Last Hope Safe Haven Urgent Board. I stopped posting the urgent dogs on koiphen because I know it changed hands and didnt want to overwhelm the board, especially in the light of the flap over the animal secton in the past. Last Hope gives money to rescues to pull, vaccinate and spay/neuter dogs, but they aso need help!

Please have a look and let us know if you can/will be willing to foster any of these fur kids that have had to be ripped away from their families. Here is one of the beautifulfemales that needs a savior

Please see all the urgent dogs at: Listings cover the entire USA area
    http://www.websitetoolbox.com/mb/las...s?forum=100979
    - there are many more on the board

Wow, I've heard about how the housing issues are causing problems. There is always people on the ASPCA forums begging for homes for their pets because they are losing their house. Its so sad! I know that panic but I've been lucky in the past and found a place at the last hour that would let us have the dogs.
I'm sweating it right now myself because we have to move. We got our loan approved again yesterday so that's not a problem. We're going to try to buy a place we have picked out but we don't know if we can get it closed and move there before we have to be out of where we are. We've turned this valley upside down and there is NO place available for us to rent with the dogs.

I'm so very tight on money right now but payday I will send you guys something. It may only be $5 but I'll send you something.

Thanks so much- every penny counts and we are very grateful for any offers. Julie is, right now, arranging for 6 more dogs that are supposed to be euthanized tomorrow, to get to her. I have never seen anything quite like what is happening in this country, right now, with so many families and so many fur kids. We have shelters begging us to put their dogs on our Last Hope Forum....We are overwhelmed

I'm so sorry Marjorie, I wish I was there to help you guys.
If there is something I can do from here, I'll do my best.

Marjorie, has she contacted the dog food manufacturers? Some companies like Iams will send coupons for free food for shelters/rescue groups. Others like Purina One offer a deal where you help promote their product something like 6-8 times and they'll give you a pallet of food in return. The housing situation now seems to be the number one reason for dogs ending up in shelters. Very sad.

Thank you so much Marjorie and all of my friends on Koiphen, you are so wonderful to help the furkids and us like this. There has definately been an explosion of all breeds of dogs being left in shelters, thru no fault of their own. I swear it seems like this is just never ending, and that we are not even making a dent in this massive problem. But, we are doing as much as we can to help. Thru your generours donations, whatever it may be, it will help save more of these poor thrown away pets. Again, I can't thank you enough. I love you all, Jules

Thanks so much, Maryanne and Cindy!

Sadly, I posted about 25 new dogs today, to Last Hope 4 were rescued late this afternoon, right after I posted them, by Last Hope Rescuers Someone knew a trucker who happened to be traveling through the area where the shelter was, so they contacted the trucker who picked them up from the shelter in Ohio and will bring them to Colorado! Had I posted them and hour later than I did, the trucker would have been out of the area.... Fate.... Of course, all were sweet loving owner turn ins due to the housing crisis. Ohio is hard hit

I wish I had some extra money to help out, but being in construction the economy is effecting me as well.

I am running a Blackwater Creek food sale right now, and am willing to donate two 8.8 lbs bags of the Gold diet food to use as a raffle or maybe a 40lbs bag of the Max growth diet. Maybe $5/ticket or something. Just let me know if I can help.

No its not! I am not saying I am perfect, but I just wish people would have been a little more cautious when getting their loans.

Thanks so much to all of you who are trying to help. We have been working so hard to get the listings up on Last Hope before the dogs are even euthanized. Its a race against the clock. Been up till 3 am the past 3 nights pulling dogs listings off petfinder and cross posting, in the hopes of saving at least some of them. I was so tired I was falling asleep in my chair- I couldnt keep my eyes open-I just had to go to bed, so I stuck a listing in my favorites on my computer, to put up the following day. When I went back to the listing, the dog had been euthanized. I felt like I betrayed her.. I was just so tired Itsso hard to find fosters, when so many are losing their homes. So many cant even keep their own dogs.

Julie has 3 acres on which to build a sanctuary, if only one of the big stores would donate runs...

Here are just a very few of the fur kids who need homes- as you can see, these are loveable quality dogs- family dogs

Greenville TX: Calm and friendly girl- she is a bi-color GSD ( Bi-colors and "coats" are known for their great temperaments!)

Vineland, NJ "Galaxy" M walks well on leads/dog friendly

AR, Lowell I have a wonderful, gentle disposition and would make a child a wonderful companion. She is also a bi-color. Many people dont know bi-colors are full blooded GSDS aand confuse them with mixed breeds

ok- some more of my favorites- one just might grab someone's heart...

Al, Tuscaloosa "Dallas" I am a sable color german shepherd, 1-2 yr old spayed female. I get along very well with other dogs and would be good with kids also. I am super friendly and love to play and be petted. This pet is up to date with routine shots. Her ears do stand- she just has her sad ears on. not knowing why she is suddenly alone in a strange place
    This pet has been altered

VA, Harrisburg :Myra is a 1 year old sweet-heart! She's a little shy here around all of the other dogs, but really loves it when you take her out and spend time with her.

IN, FRANKLYN: "CARA" 2-3 yr old F POSITIVELY DROP DEAD BEAUTIFUL/ ALTERED F/LOVES DOGS/PEOPLE ( Bi-color, of course! LOL!)
