-- gee, since I am a "librarian" in REAL LIFE, do you think that I may include this as a "query" tomorrow when the library re-opens for business (I should get "over time", right)?!?!!
Glad to have been of help to you in your "research!"
Enjoy the other "critter" for dinner and have a great remainder of your day!

Was heading down to take care of THE BIRD... and I realized I forgot the most important aspect of the fish...DOITSU
... appologies to all concerned,
... especially "its DOITSU-ness" -- the fish!

Here is another photo.
This is the closest I have had to a blue koi. As you can see, as a baby it was more blue, now it is more along the lines of a dark grey. Still a great fish, and growing well in the last year and a half.

This little guy had blue initially too....

I always wanted a blue koi but was told they didnt exist and the only blue-ish koi I would find is an asagi. I often see what my local koi breeder has for sale and I found they had a TON of small ROYAL blue and orange and silver doitsu for sale. I was blown away and had to have one since they supposedly didnt exist. I wanted a solid blue with the doitsu silver only but now wish I would have bought the one with the perfect round and centered orange dot just like a Tancho on its head. It was blue with the same silver doitsu markings but with the bright metallic orange dot just like a tancho. I should have bought both. The only thing is that he seems to be fading. Is this what you have found with yours too? Here is what it looks like if I can get the pic to work.
I have my 10' inches Asagi on March 07'. But the color becomes darker as it grows.
