That's one of the reasons I bought larger marble-type stones. They are 1 inch wide and maybe a half an inch thick, and they move them around but in no way can get them in their mouth. I have no food stuck, because their swimming dislodges everything.

      works pretty well.
      Beautiful fish and tank, Cindy!

That is a really nice tank and a good price too.

I have larger rock in my tank too. I witnessed my orange cap oranda choking one day. She had a piece of gravel lodged in her mouth and couldn't get it out. She was panicking. I grabbed the net and scooped her up to try to help and the rock dislodged in the process so then she was fine. It can and does happen. Large rock or no rock is best with goldies.

I did not know that about goldfish. I've not kept them extensively and when I have I guess I just got lucky.

Should I use the powerhead that comes with the aquarium to create "current", or is current not good for Orandas and Ryunkin?

That looks like the fuge setups that Drs Foster and Smith sells for saltwater tanks..thats hanging on the back of that BF tank. I like the looks of a bow front, and assume your going to use it for FW fish.........What I do not like about BF tanks is not all glass cleaner devices work all that good on the bowed front glass and adding sufficient lights for a SW / reef type tank is hard to do unless you go with a custom built hood and then its still hard unless you go with MH lights then you run into heat issues. But for a FW setup they are fine.

Not knowing what size and capacity powerhead it comes with its hard to say if it wil be too much or not, but generally you can usually use most any powerhead to your advantage and still not interfere with what most fish like in regards to current etc. They are good to point at the surface to break up any surface film (skim) or blow down and around the bottom substrate without blowing the media all over to keep detrius from building up around plants or decorations. Most fish do however enjoy some current.
