      Sticky: Ask the Gardeners

      Welcome to Ask the Gardeners

We hope that this forum will give you the help you need by answering your questions or just learn by reading of the questions and answers of others. There are many knowledgeable people at Koiphen credentialed and non-credentialed that have many years experience as gardeners whether by land, container or the pond. You may only want to identify a plant or lily by posting a picture. Or you may have a problem with insects or need plant or soil advice. It’s all about the hobby; members helping members advance in knowledge and experience, to give confidence and support.

This is a beginning to the answers...
The advice you receive will be given from the assessment of information received. If you have a specimen in question try to provide a decent picture and a description of the plant in question, and something about its environment while stating the problem. What zone are you in? What is the microclimate, type of soil, wet feet or dry, what exposure sun or shade? Important information as... are you an organic gardener or do you use chemicals.

Why are my plants doing poorly?
Do you know what type of soil (ph) you are gardening in? Acid, Neutral or Alkaline… plants are happy in certain soil types and may be unsuited for your conditions.

      Identify your soil:
Sandy (light, gritty and loose) or Clay (sticky and easily molded)

Climates, do you know what zone you are in?
The link provided will give you this information.

Most likely the first question you will get is “What zone are you in?” We visit here from around the world, that’s the vastness and greatness of technology.

Disclaimer: Advice given is an opinion by the poster in hopes to bring satisfaction and help you along to a fertile healthy gardening and or ponding experience. The answers given may be a culmination of years of experience and those adding comments as to what they have learned by playing in the dirt, doing what brings them a little joy, helping others.
