so the pump pulverizes all the waste before going the screen ? if that is the case then your screen will not catch anything.

Is your sieve setup before the pump?

I had sieves but upgraded to Profidrum RDF. You should always design a filtration system with a sieve or prefilter before the pump and also design a system that gravity flows to a sieve(s) or prefilter.

I’m thinking about putting in a second filtration system like Andrew he ya 2 pumps on each show pond. I wonder how much his pump costs and how he builds his diy filtration barrel

      You just need a Periha
For my indoor set up I use the p10000 and for only 40-60 watts I can turnover 4-5x the 400g tank

Missed opportunity, Andrew's Koi International uses Waterway Iron Might Pond Pumps and his own design barrel filters (which he sells complete and the media for).

You may want to add a skimmer to your pond. It will help skim out surface detritus, suspended solids and foam. It will made some burden off of your main filter. I'm really happy with this one for my 1500G pond. Install a stiffer white foam. When the foam gets dirty, just pick it up and whack it against a fence or something and put it back; real easy and quite satisfying. Below the foam there is space for some bio-home media or something. Just protect the inlet so small fish don't wonder in there.

Wow 1500gallons. I might just make my pond taller but it’ll be harder for me to look into the pond lol. I’ll just poke my head over to see them

I wonder how often he cleans the top filter. How much are they each barrel?

this one seems good 2200gph at 60watts. Pb10000pump Nice how you can put it in the pond or outside
Or the 16000 model 80watts up to 4000gph

So happy when I cleaned out my pump yesterday it’s an oases classic 1900 model so it does 1900 gph at 70watts plus my 55watt uv I’m running at 125watts per hour. I don’t know why I thought I had the 1200 model. Not bad power efficiency to turn my 1000 gallon pond over at 2x an hour. I had to remove the classic pump shroud because it was all covered with algae and made a more open shroud to help water flow. I really want to get 4 of them barrels from Andrew international and stack them along side my cinder block wall.

Andrew uses the bioballs in the middle right? He only cleans the top layer daily?

Wow that’s expensive how much did it cost to made your barrels do u have a thread on it? Thanks Mitch

I’m pretty lazy with cleaning filtration systems. I might end up getting a ultra sieve 3 and an nexus 220. We’ll see.

It will end up costing closer to the amount per barrel but hey better media like Japanese matt from China and seaside ceramics media also each barrel does contain matala 6” thick roll some lava rocks to weight down leftovers oyster shells from bbq
I saw one guy using plastic strappings / cleaning sponges on YouTube but I’d recommend stay away from those

How often do u have to clean out your barrels? Do u know if there’s any good deals on the Cetus sieve and nexus 220 out there? I wonder how I should setup the Cetus sieve before the external pump if I were to get a set. Wonder if I need to drill a hole through my raised wooden pond gravity feed to the sieve then pump up to the m nexus on a raised pedistals to gravity back to the pond.

I was looking at the rdf system out there but they are just crazy expensive.
