I wouldn't rely on what they're telling you. If you want to keep a pond you really need to buy the test
kits and learn how to do it yourself. It's really very simple and gives you the ability to test when you need
      to.

There's not much you can do about it now but for the future, never put new fish in with existing ones unless
you're prepared to lose them all. New fish need to be quarantined for several weeks minimum before ever being
introduced to the pond and your existing fish. Like you said I would suspect that the new fish started the downward
spiral and the overpopulation and sand at the bottom, like Mary said, just created the perfect storm scenario.

I think the issue is poor water quality... which leads to stress... which leads to disease.

I am going to vacuum out the sand and do another water change. So you don’t think they will heal because of the lowers water temperature?

I have had this pond in operation for over 4 years and I have two large filters sitting on the sand to collect waste. So your saying that they probably won’t make it with the lower water temperatures since winter is coming?

Since I was not logged in when this thread was started I'll simply give you a protocol which will "generally" resolve the issues as I see them:

Without further research and understanding of the concepts of the proper animal husbandry:

A significant water change which should be temperature compensated as well as treated with a dechlorinator if it is city water is nearly always a good, and proper first step.

Take a Page from most of the people who have had koi for some time and: Order Praziquantel in an amount which would treat the pond a minimum of three times, and order ProformC in a quantity large enough do the same type of treatments. These "meds" will tackle nearly all the parasites which may infect your fish and pond. While there are several places to order them, the faastest in your situation might be KoicareKennel. They ship fast and are very efficient when explaining what and how these medication work.

If you happen to use a veterinarian for your dog or cat....Print out the "General Discussion" at the top of this forum and meet with that person to discuss possible antibiotics which you might want to use. The descriptions of them and the dosage rates are in the "discussion". The longer you wait the more likely you will lose more than just one fish (based upon the [pictures you posted).

      "Koi Health: A Comprehensive Discussion"

Best of luck to you with this ordeal. The first time is usually the most stressful-especially for the owner(s).

It has long ago been substantiated that Melafix is "snake oil". There is absolutely nothing in it except an aromatic oil which makes everything smell good while the fish will inevitably die.

My veterinarians, of which I have two, both agree that medicated food does little if any good for the fish as the ingested amount simply cannot be measured. The only benefits of the above mentioned products is to the marketing department and the coffers of the company which produces them. Sorry but that's the story and I'm stickin' to it.

Also I have been feeding medicated food and treating pond with melafix

What do you suggest me to do?? Everything is normal when it comes to water quality. Will kanaplex help if I treat the whole pond?

As Karl suggested, I'd stop using the Melafix. All that I've seen says it does nothing of any benefit and
can make things worse by coating the gills.
I'd start by trying to contact the local Club person. You can try the Kanaplex but it sounds like none of
us here has any experience with it, so probably none of us can say for sure.

When was the last time the filters were cleaned?
