Thanks guys. I've sent pics to 4 ppl all gave me different answers lol so I'll just let nature take its course and see what happens. I would love a spawn from this batch. So I'll just be patient.

All the ones you turned over are females, and they are ready. You can flip over the skinnier ones and stoke down to the vent and see if milt comes out to check if males are ready.

Been having way too much fun with this spawn. I forgot I started this thread.

So I had a spawn eventually. One of my showa females the big one and a friends kohaku. Really liking these fry. I've narrowed it down to 400. All showing patterns and good growth. They between 2cm and 4cm after 7weeks.

Let me know what u guys think. I'll post better pics next time I take them out to have a closer look.

7 weeks and the pattern are starting to show. Seems like mostly kohaku on the last picture. Cheers

Nice growth, I hope you get some keepers. Showa keep changing, so it takes time to figure them out.

Looks like you've got a good batch to work with, showa, utsuri, and kohaku. Thanks for giving us some little ones to look at … while mine are chilling out under the plastic cover.

True. I think culling from the lighter ones at a higher percentage and just culling the darker ones for deformities and shape at this stage makes sense. Showa take a little longer to bloom.
