      All-positive vendor reviews

This technically isn't koi related but there's no where else to post this...

In the vendor submenu is a place to leave reviews, but apparently only positive reviews - how on Earth does this provide objective data? Anyone can prove anything if allowed to pick and choose the data. Filtering out anything other than positive comments allows one to achieve all sorts of things, such as:

      - flipping a coin and showing you picked 100 heads in a row
      - proving that someone is perfect
      - "proving" that your religion is best
      - maximizing site revenue by retaining questionable vendors

Please correct my assessment if wrong, but please not with "negative comments are handled privately", because this is no different than filtering them out.

No that's incorrect. Look at some of the threads... there are negatives ones as well as
positive ones. The one thing not allowed was personal attacks and also any posts that aren't
actual vendor interactions, i.e., "I heard" type comments as well as any not directly associated
with a transaction. The forum is moderated so each post can be looked at for these criteria
before being approved. Here's just one example of a bad experience:

      http://www.koiphen.com/forums/showth...76-Realkoi-com

We've had complaints posted that we've had the vendor address because they saw the
thread too when other methods to contact them failed.
So, no discussing things that aren't transactions with the vendor in the thread, and no
personal attacks on the vendor or company... those are the only stipulations.

I will correct your wrong assessment Kimini! Don't let paranoia or negative attitudes about Koiphen cloud your judgement!

Most of the Koiphen vendors, and other non-Koiphen vendors as well, have good reviews because they provide excellent service. If they did not, trust me, you would hear about it. Some of the Koiphen vendors, like Billy and Steve, have been providing service to our members for many years, if not a decade or so. Do they occasionally make a mistake or ship a defective product? Of course they do, but the difference is that they immediately rectify the situation to the customer's satisfaction. That is why you hear so many positive reviews.

With that being said, the negative reviews are also there if you take the time to read them.

I agree that many of would shred a bad vendor on here so it seems we have mostly good vendors. I'm pretty outspoken so if you do me wrong then people will find out..

The few times I have seen negative speak about a vendor here and on other forums the poster is reluctant to actually name the vendor. Never understood that. If your going to take the time to complain in public just go ahead and name the vendor so no one else gets burned.

Just explain your gripe about the product or the vendor.

Members can then draw their own conclusions.

Hi kimini, I'm a "tell it like it is" person, so I agree that both the good and the bad reviews should appear - and they do. I've just read over the first several pages of posts and found some. Granted, they're not "Flaming Rants", but they're not supposed to be. That's not what Koiphen is about.
I'm glad you posted this though.

As for the positive reviews, I'm delighted to see them. These days it's nice to see folks take time to praise someone for good work instead of only hearing the about the problems. IMHO
