These are the two 8 inch I got with the 10 babies. The babies hide. I have seen them on one or two occasions. I got the two larger ones so I could at least see a couple that would come up to feed until the babies grow enough to come up.

I know what they were marketed and sold as but I'd also like opinions from those here to see if they're consistent. Butterfly chagoi and?? This is the only daylight photo I have of them. The rest are grainy pics in the dark because they only come up to eat after dark.

Thank you Luke. 20 some years ago all my fish were mutts and I only learned the basics about the names back then. Then, as now, I wasn't interested in show quality fish, but now I do want to understand and be able to interpret the patterns and colors so I'm learning.

That said, my understanding of bekko is that it has to have a clear head so are you saying "soon to be" that it's expected that it'll lose the reds? It was marketed as Gin rin yamato nishiki. That's what made me ask for opinions here. I liked the way the fish looked and that, size and price were the deciding factors in choosing it but I don't want to be calling it the wrong thing just based on how it was advertised.
