Winter is coming time for me too start lifting some of the Colocasia

I am not taking any large huge pots of Colocasia onto the back porch this year. space is a a premium and they die back too the ground once on the porch anyway. I am pulling them and cutting off their leaves and roots. I will leave them out until they dry if I can. I will then put them in totes full of dry peat moss and maybe some perlite not sure on that yet. I will probably leave what ever Colocasia that is mixed in with the Xanthosoma's and Alocasia. The bananas will be taken inside also the gingers and a few odd plants. The orchids and Sanseveria will go inside the house but nothing else. The rest stays on the back porch. This is some of what I started this morning.

I also called Horn Canna Farm here in Oklahoma. They told me on the cannas that I have in pots not too dig them up or cut them down and this applies too the ones in the ground as well. They said let them go through the first couple of frosts too kill the tops. She said this insures that the sugars they need too survive have been stored in the tubers by that time. so I if we dont get a frost before my shoulder surgery I will lose mine.

If you don't get a frost before your surgery, go ahead and dig them up anyway. At least you will have a chance that they will make it.

I’m going to dig more up this year too .
I lost a lot that over wintered out side last year , it was a dry winter with cold snaps . I might have to water this winter if it’s dry again .
My tea cups all came back good

Well although I was having problems walking I still know I need too get a lot done before the first frost. I moved 30 pots of plants too just outside the back porch today a few at a time. Not trying too kill myself.

Good idea to move a few at a time close to where you will need them to be.

The only thing Gary did today was sleep. I had too take a pain pill last night it always knocks me out the next day. I did dig up a huge limeade and tried too dig up a Maui Gold but I ran out of air and had too head back too the house and set down, so thats all for me today its really hot out there too

I went ahead and put the gingers on the back porch. I also put few small pots in between the gaps they made. The last ginger was wet and full and very **** heavy I was out of breath by the time I got it inside. I had too stop for a while. his is going too take me some time. I did rig up a ramp so its easier too get them up on the porch.

I need to make plans and decide what is coming into the garage this winter. I know I will bring in less than I did last year.

I would cut the colocasia down and take them in and let them dry in their pots if you have the space.

This sum beach just tried too kill me. I was trying too roll it out of the water trough and it must weigh more than 500 pounds easy. I grabbed hold of the leg sized trunk on the old plant and got it rolling and it knocked me on my gorgeous buttocks. I am sure they are all bruised now. Anyway we rolled around on the ground for a few minutes and it even came out of its pot rootball intact. I got it back in the pot its a little lopsided and its still just leaning against the greenhouse frame. I think I will leave it until tomorrow. I did manage too rool one more of these big bstds still got 6 of these too do. Then I got too start on the nanners. I wish yall could see how big this sucker is.
