Surprising gin rin showa progress pictures

I figured I'd post progress pictures of this fish because it was a positive surprise. It was one of the very first fish that I bought and oh my goodness - it was definitely very low quality (paid $60 I think), i sure would never even consider it today But surprisingly, it turned out to be a fairly nice looking pond grade fish! The beni is very deep orange color, gin rin is still very shiny, and sumi is quite deep black (sure helps that it's on top of beni . The first picture is in May 2013 at 6". Second picture is two years later at 12". The last two pictures are today - 5 years old and only 18", just doesn't have the right body frame to grow.

I have a gr goshiki that is about the same age and 20 inches. I'm trying to get more out of her and increased feeding.

I really like your goshiki also

Nice score! I recall reading somewhere that gin rin in general end up being smaller koi. Not sure how true, but this has been my observation as well.
