It really depends on how many koi your feeding and how well you want to feed them, I go thru approx 160lbs a year but am feeding 23 koi so you see what am trying to bring to the table here so shelf life is not a corncern here but if you only have 5 or 6 koi I think you can go thru it in 6 month just keep the food refrigerated I have been told by experts that I don't have to but it gives me peace of mind

I buy food once to twice a year and put it into sealed buckets in my garage. Never have had it frozen and do not care if it expires a month or two before I use it. The fish eat it all either way and grow. I have had 130lbs of food sitting in the garage now for about 2 months after their last major run of big sales and will be mixing it up and splitting it into 8 5g buckets within the next week where it will sit until it is used. If the price is good on any food you like, then go for it. I am all for people saving money to make the hobby more affordable and long lasting.

The "shelf life" is usually 1 year.

It has been my experience buying any Koi food from Foster & Smith that the food usually fresh, close to packaging date.

I stopped storing, more than 6 months, Koi food years ago when my dogs chewed a hole in my Koi food stash and I discovered that Foster & Smith was pretty reliable with sales.

It's good food, I believe it's the same as black water, made by the same manufacturer. I've used before and the fish like it. My only issue is I need large pallets because my fish are bigger. I was able to pick up some large pallet Blackwater staple food, 40 pounds for $63 with the 20% off code! I also picked up some dog treats with the discount too!!! The doctors hate you even more now!
