Thanks for the responses. Kevin, I’d love to see his pond. As far as depth I’m staying with 4 ft so I can wade in it and service things if need be. California gunite is suppose to be giving me an estimate tomorrow and was actually recommended by a guy named Jim Boyle who is a pond builder in Martinez ca., but won’t work in Discovey Bay, but said he would consult if I wanted.

Thanks for the responses. Kevin, Id love to see your friends pond. As far as depth Im staying with 4 ft. so I can wade in it if necessary for servicing. California gunite is giving me an estimate tomorrow and was recommended by Jim Boyle whos a pond builder in Martinez but wont work in Discovery Bay but will consult if I want. Hard to get people out this way. I have a 23,000 gallon swimming pool and want the pond adjacent to it but need to make sure there in no pool plumbing in the way or Ill have to change ponds location.

California Gunite is who I used to use, they are the best! Hopefully they havent inflated their pricing.
people like to vehemently defend their purchases and find it incredulous that anything could be better

If I may chime in on depth. When I went to a deeper pond I thought 5' would be good but 6' deep would be better! Well I had spare liner, after filling the hole with the liner, and actually went 6' 5" deep. (approx)

Now any kind of servicing I need to do is very hard. I cant hold my breath for very long. I am fat, so I float! I should have measured up to my nose and at least be able to walk out and bend over to service any issues I have a few seconds at a time!

Curious what kind of servicing do you perform that requires you to enter the pond? I have never been in mine since it has been filled with water. I suspect if I needed to I would just lower the water level.

Let me know when you want to see his pond. Even if he isn't home I'm sure he is fine with me showing it to you. I'm going to genki koi for a breeders event tomorrow morning and will be home all weekend after that

May I come with both of you? Lol. I’ll need to get shotcrete for my pond in a month or so. Hope you can find some lead.

I concur with what others have already said. Go deeper. No idea what you are going to be wading in your pond for? Ever consider draining water if you ever have to wade for some unlikely reason?
