      Losing color

      I bought this kohaku 3 years ago in Kodama Koi in Davie,Fl ,it first started to show shimi ,my water is from a well and my parameter are aceptable ,now in the tail it is lossing the red color in several spot ,the picture are no very good but can be appreciate ,what can cause this ?

      Carlos being in the South Florida area, well water brings issues that folks here would need more information concerning your water parameters in order to help you, please consider posting your water

      Just looks like hard, dark red Beni, which never lasts.
      people like to vehemently defend their purchases and find it incredulous that anything could be better

      Every dog has its day. And a koi’s beauty best is the test. And this koi’s best days were when it was younger. Too much intensity in beni early on and later failing is “textbook” (if there is such a thing).

      In a recent discussion of “shimis” this term was used more broadly, but the small black dots on the beni of this kohaku is also textbook.
