      need advice

Hi all, I haven't been on for a long time. I moved from the Houston Texas area to Tennessee, and sold all my ponds and plants. My question is I have a large Pig scalding pot maybe 3 foot tall by 3 foot wide, I would like one lily to go in it and wonder what would be a really great one for the size pot I have, the weather gets fairly cold here in middle Tennessee so that is a factor also. Thanks for any help you can offer Jacki

Welcome to Nashville? Hardy lilies will survive here whereas you have to harvest tropical tubers in the fall. I love Sunfire and it would be a great hardy lily for your pot. The bloom bursts with color and grows great!

To be clear...is the pot 3' deep? For a couple of reasons that is deep for growing out lilies, so once you have decided on the plant, hardy or tropical, you may want to add a platform to raise the depth to maybe 20". The 3' width is probably your limiting factor, as lilies with 3 foot spreads are fairly uncommon. From a practical standpoint....a tropical lily given ample sunshine will likely give you a longer bloom season. N. colorata or some of its hybrids....like 'Director George T. Moore' may provide more blooms over the course of the season.

yes it is ,but when we used it in Texas, we had set the potted lily on blocks tried a Star of Siam , but the pads quickly grew over the edge, so went with a couple pots of Hellvola, but really want something that will bloom good, since it will be our only lily. thank you for the input Craig.
