      daisies dying back early?

My daisies are browning and dying back, like 80% of the plant is gone. It seems early, no? Is this normal or are they on their way out?

Not knowing how your summer has gone but here in northern Illinois we have had some funky weather conditions. Record setting rainfall in June. Dry and hot July and August for most of us.

So I would speculate that you have had these daisies for a few years and this isnt normal for them? It could be weather related? Too much water? Pests eating the roots? Fungus? Too dry? Neighbor with round up?

The brown and dead part of the plant is useless to the plant. Cut off all the brown and dying. Take a close look at the dead leaves. Any white or brown fuzz? That might be a clue. look under the leaves for insects like aphids, mealy bugs or scale feeding on the plant can also cause brown leaves.

      Good luck!
