First time ever seeing anything this different at Petsmart. Little Soragoi! Hoping he might surprise me and turn Ochiba but I’ll he happy if he stays this way. Thought he was rather nice for a Petsmart fish. Thoughts?

I appreciate your opinion but respectfully disagree in terms of this fish. I’ve seen my fair share of mutts and uglies at Petsmart but never seen a fish this solid in color or pattern.

I wasn’t in the least bit harsh or negative in my response. I simply stated why I disagreed as well as thanking you for your opinion. Will post the picture though!
Anchor , sorry , but You asked for opinions . Jeez , Your disagreeing with People that know what They are talking about .
Just to clarify too, you posted in the "serious critique" forum where fish will be judged more against show standards
and/or the possibility of it reaching that status... we also have a less serious critique forum that is aimed more for
general opinions for pattern, shape, skin quality, etc. and not necessarily against show standards. Let me know if you'd
like it moved.
Yes, please. Thank you!
Its most likely just a common carp that got in with the feeders happens a lot. Still makes a good pet.
I imagine that you got a pretty good price on that one and it will be a nice one to watch and learn from. Give us an updated picture in a couple months. thx
One of the largest fish that we ever had was Shamu (dead now), a Soragoi that we brought back from Japan 13-14 years ago. She was a monster and we loved her.
I like your find and your fish. Watch the gill covers, sometimes in bad water or with chemicals, they'll curve out a little.
The problem is the reticulation pattern is too dark for its age. It’s probably going to fade or turn black. In my humble opinion young strong Ochiba exhibit a very light to no color on the netting when young It will be a fun test fish though. Keep updating.
