HELP Skin coming out of Koiís nostrils

Hello everyone so recently my brother had caught a koi out of a privately owned pond by request of the owner because it was destroying the ecosystem. It is currently sitting in a temporary quarantine tank for a few days. I am reluctant to add it into my pond because this koi is substantially bigger than all the other koi I have. I mean he is HUGE compared to the others. I have read that it shouldnít be a problem, but I am still scared. The main issue however is that there is some sort of skin coming from his nostrils. Iím not sure if this is normal like some sort of shedding but Iíve never seen it before. If you could provide help about the skin coming from the nostrils and the size difference that would be highly appreciated. Also, if you are going to try and criticize me for what Iíve done, donít bother as I will completely ignore and disregard the message, I am just looking for help, not for people to tell me I am a bad koi owner. And also what species of koi is this? Name: 8B884DF6-D68C-42A1-9DF8-DA7A3414BE6F.jpg

The "skin" coming from the nostrils is completely normal. I forget the name at the moment....pompoms? .....just a decoration...nothing to worry about. Having a larger koi with smaller ones means it will have a bigger mouth to eat food faster than the little ones. Do quarantine for longer than a few days.

Why would you be criticized for being a bad koi owner? What you're doing is a good thing. However, before adding to your pond, please read up on the proper way to quarantine, to protect your existing fish:

Good luck with your new "baby" and welcome to the forum!!!!

Those are perfectly normal on butterfly koi. I have one that has huge ones as well.
I agree with the others. I see no reason to criticize you at all. I agree with them about quarantining longer than a few days though. I have made the mistake of not quarantining long enough before and paid for it by losing some of my koi to parasites.
