Yeah, I did separate the 1 large one. I figure the other ones that are nearing 3/4 of an inch could only fit the smallest of dry in their mouths, which is ok with me.

Right now I'm feeding crumbled flake. Should I switch to crumbled pellets you think? The protein percentage on my pellets is less than the flakes...

Probably the higher protein % would be better at this stage. If you want to speed growth more and don't mind the process of making it, the high protein seafood paste helps a lot. For example, I mentioned one blend in my showa thread, "... sort of following Wombat's method. This particular blend is 33% tuna, 22% sardines, 15% mackeral, 15% salmon, and 15% pumpkin. So 85% seafood." My wife gave me my own blender just for this purpose . English peas or any other soft peas will work in place of canned pumpkin. Other canned seafood such as herring, shrimp, prawns, or clams can substitute for the seafood in the example. And it's okay if you mix in more veggies and only have say 70% seafood. I've seen some here just make it 100% seafood, which I guess is okay if they have other lower protein foods as well.

I think I am ready to cull. I can see what look like kohaku and sanke on some of the larger fish. Then I have yellow and white fry.

I'm thinking of keeping about 10 yellow and 10 white. Then about 40 kohaku (if i can find that many, they are hard to spot on the smaller ones) and 40 darker fish (sanke or asagi or whatever else they might be).

At this point and with such a small number I would just increase the amount of protein in their diet and another month you will be able to see the colors come up that will help you during your culling process, but two of the did catch my eye

I'm thinking it's about time to narrow it down to my top 10... Hoping to do so this weekend! :-)
