      Half Doitsu & Half Wagoi??

Anybody seen this type of scales?

It's some type of Ogon(I think) but any idea what scalation type this actually is?

At first I thought it was a Wagoi, but then I noticed it had the typical big German scales on the lateral line, and the "invisible" zipper along the dorsal.
But there are regular scales in the shoulder area...or is this just congregated zippers, giving the illusion that it's a Wagoi?

I think you would have to class this as Doitsu even though the shoulder scales are a little different.

Yes, I would say linear scaled Doitsu because of the lateral line scales. I have seen some with some extra scales on the "shoulder", though maybe not this many. Not sure what causes that. I'm pretty sure this one had the Doitsu gene pair (Nn) and at least one dominate "scales" genes (SS or Ss) to make that lateral line row, otherwise it would be leather.

Wanted to give an update to my $25 doitsu/wagoi oddball.

Since I got it in the Summer, the fish has changed color and it appears the hikari sheen has improved quite a bit and the head that was quite smudged is also clearing up.

Not really sure what it is still but I'm calling it a Doitsu Kinbo because of the stick-shaped shine on it's back. Definitely a Kawarigoi but I'm interested in seeing how it develops.

Marusei has a lot of these scaleless Ogons available as tosai but I've never seen them for sale as nisai. I'm guessing they come out from either a Mukashi Ogon or Chagoi spawn with a Doitsu parent mixed in

They definitely look different. Are these in your quarantine tank?
