Hi members, i came last Sat. The lady owner told me Andrew koi will have a sale of buy 1 get 1 free for jumbo tosai from japan for $600. They have certificate for the fish. I am willing to spend $300, not $600. I am looking for someone to cover other $300. Each can get one jumbo tosai. If anyone is interested, let me know.

I didn't see any on their website. Is there a link to look at what other Koi they have? It seemed like a short, high end list for what they did show.

Andrew's Koi International has too many Koi in stock to list all on a website.

Ah. I'll have to check his place out next time I'm down in the OC.

If you were asking me, I'm sorry I will have to pass on your partner up offer for a showa. I asked to see what else Andrew's may be offering. My world used to be limited to Champ Koi and a guy that sold them out of his home in San Jose after trips to Japan. I see a lot more places now I can check out or even bring them back from.

I'm on the hunt for a nice Hi Utsuri . in the 12" range.

The back yard guy had a real business in San Jose and went to Japan every year. 5-6 large tanks and a couple huge ponds. It was fine and I picked up a couple nice Koi from him and a few construction supplies. I guess he has retired as he has changed his website to archive status. He was active with the local Koi club and advertised with them.

I have never heard of A1 Koi and all I see is one on Facebook. As for Genki, I've been there several times including last Saturday to show more Koi to my mother in law. I did half consider them again for the Hi Utsuri. We were around the corner at Kelley Park for an event. I would purchase plumbing or construction items from them but would not feel confident buying fish from them. In that case there really is no comparison to Champion Koi - also in San Jose. I just don't see any around at the moment with out shipping or travel. I've never had a Koi shipped and in this case I'm going to be picky.

Hmm I've been happy with genki. I've been to champ and genki. The backyard dealer must have been different than the one I dealt with

They seem nice, and it's great you've been happy with them. I'm certainly not here taking them down. I am on the hunt for a Hi Utsuri and maybe Andrew's is an option at some point.

Andrew's koi seems great. Best luck on the hi utsuri. I'm kinda picky on them myself.

I checked out the koi on sale, they have a lot of gosanke jumbo tosai: showa, sanke, and kohaku. I think a lot of them are female, but the water is green, I did not find a showa I like

Have to agree that a very high percentage of gosanke tosai turn out to be males no matter how careful you pick. Hobbyists will never beat breeders in their own game.

Andrew koi posted the event up on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Andrews-Koi...3017441100069/
If I could not find anyone to share the cost for $600 fish, I may look at the $400 koi to buy one at price $300, 25% discount.

It's a shame his website isn't more up to date. Buyers like me that are out of the area have no clue about him short of recommendations here. I would have to go to his location to see what he has beyond the super high end Koi on the site.

It is good to support your local koi dealers. Doesn't make sense for me to buy a omosako from another dealer and pay shipping on it when I can just go to genki and get the omosako shiro for $125 and no shipping. I only buy local. I did buy one in so cal though

Yes, I like Champ Koi a lot. It's my preferred vendor. But not if I want a Hi Utsuri and Champ doesn't have any*. I am uncomfortable buying from Genki but they don't have any* either.

      * Les than about 16-18 inches.
