Here we go! Got the concrete collar in today.

Anyone who has the Zakki Shower, can you let me know your setup? Do you guys having it spill right into your pond or do you plumb it via 4" to some type of waterfall spill way?

Heres the goal for this weekend. Finish the dig of 15x10x5. Install the non-air 4" Koi Toilet, two TPR jets and underlayment and liner.

What was interesting was Richard over at thepondoutlet.com didn't carry Zakki products. He stated no one has ever asked him about Zakki products in the last 12+ years.

Next question, if I have my fish in a Costco style swimming pool for about 2-3 weeks, do you guys see any issue with using that swimming pool for the kids once the fish are out? Again, I only see the finish being there for about 2-3 weeks.

And if going the other way around make sure to clean the pool so the kids don't contaminate the fish.

I called Deep Water Koi this morning and the voicemail told me to email Zac which I emailed. Waiting on his return call.

Here is where we are at! I made some slight adjustments and pushed the pond out by 17x14 MAX. We are digging down 48" with one bottom drain at 60". Some minor questions below:

First time working with the Koi Toilet with aeration. I noticed there wasn't any type of check valve in case the water came back through the air line. Do I just make sure I run the air line above water level then back down to the air pump thus avoiding any water coming out when the electricity is off?

I'm going to be extending my son's tree house deck so part of the deck will go over the pond. No part of the deck will be touching the water though. Will there be any water issues with raining hitting the pressure treated wood/beam and dripping into the water during the first 1-2 years.

Besides that, I've spoken with Zac and he recommends the ZacoDraco25. I'm still not sure the type of filtration I want.

I had my pvc pipe higher than water level then glue a hose adapter because you will have to run a 5/8” ID hose from the air pump anyway. I also added a valve in case I need to turn off or reduce
My air pump is below water level and have not had any issues
I think the BD does has an air internal check valve from the manufacture information
How many bottom drains are you doing for this pond?

Looks great! How thick is the collar?

I've never used a KT with air but have used diffusers and have found that when air is shut off they become really good
check valves in themselves and not much water gets past them. But running the tubing up above pond level before feeding
the pump should be good insurance.
Opinions differ I think on the pressure treated wood but my understanding is new treatment for the wood isn't toxic as it
was before. I know I've had decks surrounding two ponds that both use PT lumber along with a bridge spanning a stream
and never have had an issue.

      Great progress!

4" bottom drain is in! I'm excited to see the flow compared with my other 3" BD on my other pond.

Question here! I have about 16 koi currently in the range of 6"-9". I need to relocate them during the pond build. I will be putting them in a blow up pool inside of my garage. Anything I should be aware or concerned about? I was planning on putting in a submersible pump to keep the water flowing. Some airlines to keep the air good in the water. Thoughts or experience?

This is what you will need
INTEX 10ft X 30in Prism Frame Pool Set with Filter Pump https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LNDYJTU..._mPCdBb58VEH4T

You can get away with just air line but keep waterchange daily 20-50% depend on ammonia spike

      If I was you
Then I would get diy 55 gallons barrel gravity feed and use your existing seeded media from the current setup
Without worry on pressure the pond build take time and do it right

Here's an update. KT bottom drain is in! I'll be smoothing out the sides once the weekend hits. Really excited for the aeration. We had a blue heron situation last year but I haven't seen it this year. Do you guys thing the aeration causing the water to be distorted helps if a blue heron having a hard time locking in on a koi? Hope that makes sense.

So what’s the concrete collar for? Is this a raise pond above grade then
Make sure you fill with a flow meter for accuracy when go to treatment
Your pond size is just too hard for calculator to gives the exact numbers
Find a better way like hang lines 2x2 lines across the pond
That air wave aintn gonna scare em (herons) away

I have no clue on this one, but wouldn't a little less slope on the side be better, or does it matter all that much?

(this coming from someone who dug out his own 2000g [@ 4ft deep] pond so I don't ask that question casually)

This build has no plan and changes in equipments couple times
Don’t really know the answers yet and I’m eager to find out

Some great responses. So I will be sloping it much more aggressively this weekend. I left it sloped that way just in case it rained I didn't want any additional issues until I worked on the build again this weekend. This is not an above ground pond. The water level will be about 4" above the top of the collar once everything is done and said. The equipment plans have changed definitely! I'm looking to put the right filtration in place that fits my budget and that fits what I think will do for my pond! Stay posted!

i know mine just supports the rock and foot traffic around the pond edge at ground level without worry of it collapsing
into the pond. I think his is similar.
