Fiberglass pond leak. Easiest way to fix?

Started filling a preformed fiberglass pond today to check for leaks. I found one on the shelving when the water started to seek out. Not sure on how to fix it. Thought about buying a quart of pond armor. I have automotive fiberglass in the shop but not sure how to seal it if I apply a few layers over the crack.

Any input? Anything cheaper or better than the pond armor idea?

I would think automotive fiberglass would be the best approach. You will probably need to prep the area of the pond first as it is probably painted.

Take the pond out of the hole. turn it over to allow you to work on the rough side of the pond. Gently dry the area with a hair drier or thinners.

A light sanding using a flap disc on your small grinder around the surrounding area of the leak.

Seal the inside of the pond with something like masking tape to prevent the resin running through the opening while it's hardening.

Place a couple of layers of chop strand over the area and saturate with your resin, mixed with the required number of drops of catalyst and mixed thoroughly. and

Pour over and allow to soak into the layers of chop strand, use a brush to make it penetrate and bond on to the sanded area.

      Allow to harden.

Maybe use a MARINE SILICONE on the inside to stop the pond water getting to the curing resin and soaking between the layers of the cracked fibreglass.

The silicone will protect the fish from the rough break.

The pond is not fully buried, luck for me lol.

Thank you for the description of what to do for the fiberglass. I will do that tonight! I was thinking I had to do it from inside of the pond but your idea is better.

Just an update. No more leak. Fiberglassed a few layers all around the outside and added silicone to the inside where I think it was leak. So far no leaks for the last week. Now I can bury it!
