Well I think "Butterfly" is about all you can say as to what breed it might be. I won't fit very well in to any specific color or patern clasification. Mutt is the best I can tell you.

So apparently butterfly koi isnt considered real nishikigoi? What are the criteria for a fish to be true nishikigoi?

Butterfly Koi are a cross breed with Nishikigoi and another type of carp. They have become well liked in some circles and not so much in others. The Japanese refused to recognize them as Koi when they first came out but now I see that even some Japanese breeders offer some for sale and I think you may even find them in some Koi shows in the US. To me it seems that conformation and color are not yet as refined as Nisikigoi. Although the body and finage on your Koi look pretty good compaired to many I have seen elswhere. The color with all the black specks is of lower grade.
