Thanks all. I will do either drop in liner from birdman after cinder block walls and use 3 kass 4 inch drains with 4 pressure fed returns and 2 skimmers

Too small for a koi crazy person. Once filled 6 inches from top only about 8,000 gallons. Make 12 ft wide.

      Have fun digging.

I thought 12 feet wide would make it difficult to catch them but I'll consider that or go 20 feet long.

I'm going to dig the qt tank first and will be 8.5x7x4. About 1750 gallons

Think about nets , I think the longest handles are 12' , plus the 3' to 4' net head , that's 15' to 16' . Your a tall dude , how much net handle is left for You to grab. I have to stretch across 12' of water , and that's really hard on My back .

      You are correct.

With new filtration... bigger is not better.

Turnover rate of 10k pond on a more manageable 5k pond can = better water quality.
