Thank you for doing this and bringing joy to a lot of water gardeners, Cindi and Frank! I'm new to the forum, but would love to get in on the 2019 grow out. I'd be curious to see just how well I can grow lotus plants in my 9b zone.

Would be happy to have you. Mine are getting big, hot weather helps. Hubby thought it was just water and dumped my barrel water. Tucked the toaster seeds and leafs back in and they recovered.

What could this be? An aerial leaf perhaps?

Otherwise not much change. There are 3 plants in this tub because I didn’t have anywhere to put them all.

Ditto the mosquito population... I ordered some dunks so hopefully they'll do the trick.

Nah, it just plopped back down on top of the water.

I didn't see any mosquito larvae the day after putting the dunks in.

I second that. I had a zillion in each planter and dropped a 1/4 of a dunk and not a one
      left in any of them.

well it could be that they turned into a zillion mosquitos

my lotus are not doing much.
i potted 2 seeds and they have small leaves, nothing aerial.
and the 2 i stuck in the front basin are not doing well...they have super long stems and no leaves.

i may have to buy a large container and pot them.

Danny, that is gorgeous. Do you know what variety it is? I have not gotten any blooms yet from either tuber or seed.

Tropical lotus from Thailand. Excellent bloomer for me in Hawai'i, since many hardy lotus do not bloom at all.

Best lotus to grow, if your lotus do not bloom.
