I think there is a bit of an ease of repairs as well. Some of these have minimal moving parts so if it is set up, the chances of damaging it are pretty limited. My main worry is the spraying pump on the draco, the drum rotating motor, and the control board. You can swap out the controller in minutes with just the knowledge of unplugging the old wire and plugging in the new. Two wires on the pump for the spray bar and drum rotating motor. The simplicity of the design allows for that. Screen replacement was a slight pain but it took me one time trying to figure out an easier way to do it and mod the RDF so I could do it my way with ease. The availability of parts is going to be your biggest issue more so than the ability for someone to service it, no matter which RDF you choose. Zac is my sold distributor and I have no doubt he can get me what I would need fast. That relationship with who you are buying from should weigh pretty heavily into ones decision. I don't have a filter relationship with Russ, Tom, etc to know what kind of spares they keep on hand so they can speak to that or ease of repairs if needed within the systems they represent.

Look at all of the consumer EU RDFs that have come out and how simular the construction is. I also think that the market won't support all of them and most will quit production. Good for consumers that they are not exotic in design and it won't be difficult to retrofit parts to keep running.

Steve I’m really surprised this thread wasn’t shut down the moment it started, it was only intended to antagonize one maybe two members and it took 70 posts to get there, we have already lost a valued member of the group who really doesn’t post because of the creator of this threads excessive posting and to be honest constant and utter bollocks.

It’s quiet amazing that the op was at both shows at San Diego and Nor cal and never said a word or even looked in the direction of the referenced individual but fires insults and atangnostic posts from the safety of his keyboard.

To be honest and not that it matters and maybe you haven’t noticed I haven’t really posted anything in koiphen or really looked at anything I’m sick of it becoming the Kevin32 show who bangs out 6 posts to everyone.

One of the reasons I moved on also. Tired of the new Kevphen Forum and attacks.

Mark, I'm one of 6 moderators. When I got involved in the thread, unless there are extraordinary circumstances, I shouldn't
get involved in moderating the thread. I chose to try and point out that when a poster makes a comment that you don't
agree with and think it has no merit and is just a "slam" against a product you think highly of, that maybe you should question the
poster on their experience with the product they're critiquing as opposed to just automatically going into an attack mode and
making counter accusations. That can often point out what is merely an opinion as opposed to someone that is pointing out
      a potential legitimate flaw.

We don't have any rule that I know of that limits anyone to a set number of posts. I think we all hope that everyone waits till
they feel they have something worthwhile to contribute to the forum before posting. But we also hope that those with knowledge
and something to share will always feel free to express it here when they'd like to.
Moderators and Admins often take a thrashing for being too restrictive and PC. And then we also get a thrashing for not moderating
when someone wants us to. I'm not sure how to accomplish them both and make everyone happy all the time. I think we try and
strike some sort of middle ground to make as many feel welcome and want to contribute as possible.

In other areas, goods tend to be a lot cheaper in the US vs Europe. Cars, motorbikes, computers, etc, that’s even with things made in Europe.

For instance a new Range Rover base model is £80,000 = 110,000 USD in the U.K. vs 87,000 USD in the USA. For a vehicle that’s made 300 miles from where I live.
Main pond 4000 US Gallon, 22 Koi. Oase Proficlear Premium + Bio Module, Bitron 120 w UVC, Bakki Shower, Dura 7+ ashp. Grow on tank 600 Gallons with Eazypod Automatic and 70 litre K1 biochamber.

Fundamentally, almost all RDFs are the same. I just choose one that meets my requirements, and that I know I can support even if the manufacturer goes down the tubes.

Heh wanna guess how much a new Range Rover costs where I am?

      http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/ne...?CarCode=11237

We're about S$1.36 to the USD. This isn't the base model tho. Probably has all the bells and whistles as it is a luxury marque here.

Isn't it obvious.... Mike, Tom and myself want to put our kids through college on the back of the poor koi hobbyists. We just like to say it is the exchange rate, the brokers fees, ocean and land freight costs, post arrival unpacking/inspecting/re-wiring for USA electrical grid/testing/packaging and customer service work that increases the cost of the filters VS the EU retail price. Please keep this little secret between us though.

      ?

My comments would not have contributed anything positive, so I deleted them. Seems several others, especially one, should have taken the same approach.

No need for this kind on crap on KP.

As I have been tossed so many times it wasn't funny, and now it has been so many it is funny again...
the Mod's are clueless. Seriously CLUELESS.
here is the one thing that should be moderated as in your post disappears immediately... you mention a person in even the slightest negative light.
You should be allowed to say "The Turd Roller RDF is the worst piece of crap out there because it doesn't have Diamond Bushings."
You should not be allowed to say, "Jim thinks Turd Roller RDF's are the bees knees because he sells them, but they do not have Diamond Bushings like The Fantastic Turd Separator" Betsy sells."
You should be allowed to say, " A Plastic poop Catcher is too flimsy too be of service in the hobby because Stainless Steel will last my lifetime, and All RDF's Should be service-free for 20+ years."

When people even vaguely reference or address another person instead of the issue the post should go *poof*.

(you pretty much know a thread has decayed beyond the bounds of helpfulness when it becomes a topic about appropriate posts)

Now that being said, I envy all you Sum*****es that have the money to have an RDF.
(Truth is I'd want one with a plastic housing. Decent plastic has a long life and has some noise-dampening attributes, and is easily painted to hide in the setting. I see all the Stainless Steel housings created for Koi people and I realize it is along the axiom of, " A successful fishing lure catches fisherman, not fish." Long after the technology is outdated or wornout there will be big shiny unsightly stainless steel boxes by koi ponds.)

      Take the guts out and:

      1. Fill with ice and beer and you have the ultimate RDF koi pond party cooler.
      2. Turn into the RDF fish and rib smoker.

If someone asks "Where in the heck did you get that thing?" tell them its from NASA and was used on one of the shuttles.

Thanks for the reply Steve, as I said I think this thread was solely created to antagonize and its a little sad, you only have to see the name of the thread. I actually had around 4 or 5 private emails in support of the post I said, and I wont name names but one discussed how many member's we have lost and how many members were driven away, members that are valuable and have a bags of expertise and knowledge, I joined this forum in 2013 and when I joined it was a lively place to be loads of new threads were opened and discussed.

I would love to see what the traffic was in those days compared to the current period, As I said I don't spend a lot of time on here now because of various reasons but I do spend some time on KKONA, and there are a lot of members who post daily even hourly on there that used to post regularly on here from high end hobbyists to ZNA judges.

My question is how do we rejuvenate Koiphen?
