New Oase combi Drum + Nitrate Remover

New Oase Combi Drun is just coming out, think it takes 100 litres of Hel-X 13 and has a full size drum. Was also intrigued to read about a ‘phosphate remover’ module...no idea how effective it is.

      From the manual:

"The purpose of Module M 4 (phosphate binder) is to convert nitrate into gaseous nitrogen (denitrification) and, above all, to bind phosphates which, in particular, notably restricts the growth of string algae. The majority of the volume is filtered in the secondary flow. In this manner, a low oxygen environment is created inside the foam filters which favours the adherence of denitrificating micro-organisms. The smaller part of the volume flow is guided through the Phosless inserts where special phosphate binders ensure the adherence of the phosphate."

I don't know for sure bro. But im not using any uv and my nitrates habe never been over 20 ppm. The rdf really filters the docs out so well im left with low docs in the water and never saw any excess algae

My Nitrate levels aren’t high either, running at around 20ppm. Interestingly my TDS readings have also dropped from around 450ppm to 300 or so since I’ve cut down the feed - obviously too much.

I think I’ll be getting the new Oase combi drum soon.

Regulating the food is key. Whether the water is warm or not the fish need a transition period which you may have skipped. Cutting back the food can tighten all the colors in your koi. Beni, shiro, and sumi will tighten with less food

Thanks, I’ve cut down around 50% and my water changes are also down from 30-40% a week to 20%.

Well I’ve bit the bullet and just spent £6,000 in new filtration...

The just launching new Oase Compact L combi unit, an Evolve 3 Tier Bakki Shower and 20kg of BHM along with two new variable pumps. Going to be building an additional equipment shed next week too. All of the new toys will be going in there. The Bakki Shower will have a 4 inch outlet instead of a weir so it can be piped back to the pond.

Very interesting. Do the plates in the filters need only cleaned or do some get thrown away and replaced?

If you mean the drum screens then just cleaned by the pressure filtered water going in.

Apparently it’s an old model not made anymore, I called Oase for info.

Just been building a new filter house...should be finished tomorrow. It’s taken a lot longer than originally planned...at three days so far. It’s about 12 ft long by 5 ft wide and it’s raised off the ground by approx 1.5ft. Better electrics are also going in with two separate feeds from the fuse board in the house.

And I bought a bigger & better QT, which is going into one of the garages. Tank size is 550 Gallons, which will be filtered by an Eazypod.
