      Blue shusui longfin

      Is this name correct?
I got this guy from an aquatic store in a tank with a handful of other random koi. So nothing high end. Pond grade I assume. I知 just curious what this guy is classified as and wondering if anyone has any older ones. I知 wondering if the blue will hold as he ages or if this is just baby coloring.
When googling sapphire koi seems to be what pops up. I take it this kind is a fairly newish mutation/variety?
The posts I was seeing on here regarding blue koi like this were from back in 2007. I saw a picture @GoldieGirl posted of one she had. If you still have it (or have pictures of it still) would you mind posting a few? Did it stay blue?

His is my guy. One picture when purchased and one of it in the pond a few weeks later.

I once owned a shusui with blue coloration. The blue of his skin turned a more pale blue and the markings on his cheeks and stayed a deeper blue gray.

@kevin32 Thank you for the name correction.
@koi4u2c Any pictures by chance? That’s not what I wanted to hear:/ I feel the blue was already on the light side so I was and still am hoping the blue will darken and hold.
@Wmurky Thank you. The moment I saw him I couldn’t leave without him. Thankfully my husband graciously indulges my fish keeping hobby. I picked him out form three in the tank. I was drawn to the spot on his side in addition to being the first true blue koi I’ve seen in person. He is my dragon.

Sorry no pictures. I doubt that yours will stay that color. It will most likely get lighter as it grows, but if you are lucky it will at least be a light blue. But often they get light grey or almost white. The scales will stay dark.

Ah, my blue shusui, my first koi. Was eaten by an otter who wiped out my entire pond!
Good luck with your new fish.

Hopefully it will stay some form of blue. I’ll be tracking his progress to see how his color changes/stays over the years.

@JCarlos his fins are long! Thank you for sharing a picture

@johnbolling Yours looks pretty close to the same blue color on mine, if not a bit more blue. Has it changed much since you got it?
