      2018 Lotus seed growout

      Koiphen lotus grow out!

I have 50 Pink "Nelumbo nucifera" seeds ordered, blooms first year. Matherfish has generously offered to donate some of his seeds.

I send out seeds, number you get depends on how many people want in. When we get our seeds, you nick, put in water and I'll give prizes to first arial leaf and first bloom.

We've done this for several years and it's neat to see how quickly they grow.

Sure and I'll start a list.

I love these pink ones, we get blooms the first year. Let me see how many want in and we'll count seeds and I'll ship. I'll get addresses when I'm ready to ship

I'll divide my seeds and the seeds Matherfish sends and I mail them out. We all nick the seeds at the same time and keep posting pics of progress.

Please do not include me on the mailing list. Think I may still have a couple seeds from last year. If I do have a couple seeds lying around then I'll try to watch this thread and nick one to start at the same time in a spare container.
Welcome to the first timers. My first lotus experience was two years ago and I got first bloom that time. Last year I lost track of which plant was new from seed and my divided ones from the previous year. That's how well these grow.
I kept asking people last year if they'd like a plant and no takers. Kept telling them they grow great in containers and a pond is not a requirement.

I'll keep you in the contest..

They must have no idea of how beautiful they are or the cost for a tuber.

I remember yours...they were beautiful and amazing.
Mine grew leaves but never bloomed. I ended up transferring it from a container to a bog and it didn't make it.

I'll keep these in the container this time.

I don't want them in the ponds but I have a container so if that'll work I'll play.

Flobb, who turns down free lotus?! That's crazy!

I'm really hoping mine survived in the basement. They feel firm still, so I think they are ok. I wonder if I'll see any growth before I take them outdoors?
