Yep that is what I would do. 3rd can also be used for skimmer. Easier to cap a inlet then plastic weld another later

I would not use a fernco cap on an unused Zacci sieve inlet. Vacuum would suck it in .

When customers have an un-used inlet I tell them to glue on the provided union, and then glue on a 6" piece of pipe into the union and then glue a PVC cap onto the other end of the 6" pipe. This way when it comes time to use that inlet, you just cut off the cap and you still have 2+ inches of extra pipe left over to glue onto. Never glue a fitting directly onto the Zakki Sieve. Always glue on the provided unions so that if you need to make plumbing changes in the future you just have to buy a new union instead of a new sieve

Oh and for anyone that wants to know...
I use 2" Spears Sch 40 Unions part # 497-020, 3" Spears Sch 40 Unions part # 497-030, 4" Spears Sch 40 Unions part # 497-040 so you can find replacements based on that part number.

I am not perfect and I have had a screen get shipped out that was backwards so there is a possibility this could be a second backwards screen. I had the customer test it under a faucet and confirmed it was backwards. I sent out a different screen and problem solved. Zac@DeepwaterKoi.com
      Hi, Zac

Just curious. When you said backward, did you mean front/back backward or top/bottom backward?

Top to bottom. Can't really go the other way unless Zac really screwed up lol.

When it us right i don't care how great your pond is. You will build up algae and poo with a 250 micron screen. If the screen is flipped it won't build up waste the same. Zac probably sees the problem and stuff happens

Yeah top to bottom. If you put the screen under the faucet there should be a very obvious way that the water cuts through the screen faster. If the eyebolt is down and the water cuts through the screen best then it is correct. However if the eyebolt is up then I screwed up and drilled the holes on the wrong side of the screen.

I collected alot of algae daily with a zakki sieve to upflow filter and 110 watt evo uv. Then to a shower setup. Both were ok but installed a rdf and things changed . Zac is also a profidrum dealer and will be better in the long run imo. I'm using the blue eco and have a profidrum waiting but feel rdf is the way to go. I get foam off the shower setup and do a good water change and no foam next morning. Mechanical filtration is your best friend before a shower..just my .02

The zakki sieve is 250 microns and a rdf is 80 micron. You need a bead filter to get down to 80 micron and we keep adding pipe and reducing the flow

This is kind of a bump to the top. Along with that is a question about the screen. A Zakki Sieve comes with a 250 micron screen. Has anyone installed a finer screen during the months that are not so hard on the sieve? Like here in Illinois usually the first few weeks after the winter start up you get a ton of winter debris, and new string algae, then as summer progresses debris is a minimum until fall hits. I am wonder if a finer screen will screen out more fines, or would it just be adding a headache?

Thanks again for all the info

Would just be adding a headache. 200 micron can be done in ultrasieve 3 the pressurized zakki does best at 250 micron which is just fine imo

I thought I read that Jim used a 100 micro sieve screen for a while. Maybe I'm remembering wrong.
