      Parasite treatment & Ammonia/Nitrites

When setting up my quarantine tank, I seemed to have killed a lot of the beneficial bacteria on the media due to the temperature change from the pond to tank.

Does the effectiveness of Proform C & Hikari Prazipro get affected due to Ammonia & Nitrites being present in the water? I'm talking moderately high numbers; not fatal but stressful readings.

I did a 7 day treatment in the high 60's on 2 new fish but a few hours after releasing then into the pond, a bunch of my fish started flashing. I checked the water parameters and did detect 0.25 PPM of Nitrites so hopefully it's just that...since it's too late to just scoop out the new fish and retreat.

This fish is very lethargic, just hovering in the same spot. The only time it moves is when it flashes.

Yes, I regret not treating longer and in higher temperatures

I dont see any papers referencing ammonia degrading Either, and i doubt it would degrade the active ingredients in proform C. The nitrogenous waste would have just stressed the fish and compromised their immune system. If I were you I wouldnt beat yourself up over it. Just concentrate on the situation at hand. You MAY have introduced some bugs into your pond. That's not the end of the world. Flashing does not always mean there is a problem. Does it mean your dog has fleas every time he scratches? no. Keep a close eye on them and if you notice certain fish flashing often, then do a scrape and scope. Treat for only what you find on the slide. Also, do a few good water changes and get your nitrite under control. Dont forget to breathe. Its always stressful but a calm mind makes fewer mistakes.

I have never heard of a problem with reactions between dechlor products and, ammonia, nitrite, and parasite treatments. I do know that dechlor will react with PP, which can be used as a parasite treatment.
