      flowfriend pro pump

I ain't been here in awhile, but I saw on the "Stole pump" thread mention of a flowfriend pump. And then I found a photo of the "Flowfriend pro pump"
The Pro model looks just like an axial flow pump from what I can see. I love the wet end design.
and I liked the look of the regular Flowfriend pump. So first, how many of you got one of these? What's it do for you?

I do so hope more people give a more personable response...insights, comparison to their old pumps..yada yada.
And if you don't have one or heard of one it seems so promising perhaps you should check it out.
I do not think it is the be all end all, but that wet end deserves consideration by the majority of the hobby.

Good quality and design but very expensive. Only a payback if you live in an area with very high electric rates and have a pond with lower head requirements. I have seen a few installed where the head was too high and out of the efficiency range of the pumps. At that point zero payback but it's nice bragging about your $2500 pond pump.

Personally haven't seen any of the axial flow Pro pumps only the FlowFriend Standard.

      OK, so noone owns em?
BWG, I agree on your financial assessment. And that is going to lead to another topic...right now I wanna hear what our people have seen of both models...especially the PRO.

I hope that someone has one at CFKS..I am pretty sure it would be reason enough for some more folks to attend. I am going to actually start a thread in an attempt to prod a dealer to bring some.....

Personally I think when they are done milking the high dollar market a lesser cost thermoplastic single speed model will appear.

I don't have the Pro but my FF pumps move 14,000 GPH using 850 watts, old pumps used 1,000 watts to move around 9,000 GPH.

Is this a guesstimation from manufactures charts or measured?

My old ESBB 10500 was measured at the factory and only gave me 7,500 GPH(forgot the Wattage), the FF pump, you can get the reading for Watt and RPM from the digital screen then use the chart for see the flow.

What I really love about the FF is you can increase or decrease the flow as needed.

Unless you plug the pump into a watt meter and put a flow meter on the output its only a guess.

it is worse than a guess... it is manufacturer's propaganda. That is why I want to hear from consumers....or someone like Zac

FF is more efficient, there is no guessing there!!! My electricity bill came down $30 per month even with 30% higher flow.

I agree it's more efficient. But the numbers are still a guess and paybacks are often exaggerated. This is the reason you don't see a plethora of this type of pump on the market.

circuit #1, 4' straight up to shower with 3" pipe for one circuit. circuit #2, 3" pipe, 12' run to 3' up flow to a 275 gallon filter then return to WF. Pumps are below water line and I have no backpressure again the pump besides head height. FF pumps should not be used with bead filter.

I have one ff pump and one alpha primer pump running my system. When I get a chance I put a meter on the flow friend and see how accurate the watt meter is. I have mine turned way down for winter, this is what sold me on the pump, flexibility to go up or down.
