Thank you I can see the weak beni on the side for sure.

I would not put any merit is a certificate. Many breeders make certificates for all their Koi so they are easier to sell. Some people actually believe that, if a Koi has a certificate, that it must be good. Sadly that is just not the case.

That's true, posted this to show the earliest pic of the koi I had. Any guess as to the development after I had it for a growing season.

rookie question for the showa, what is the likelihood of the sumi to come back?

      Thanks,

      From my experience about 0%.
It would look right at home in my upper pond where the, shall we say my, "less fortunate" koi go to live out their lives.

It doesn't matter if the Sumi comes back as the Beni has failed and will never come back, this Koi is done. There is every possibility the Sumi will come back though. Sumi comes and goes but Beni doesn't.

I saw signs of weak beni on the showa at the dealer and was assured the beni would start to look as thick as the beni on the head did at the time. As you can see the beni is completely failing

As for the goshiki the backround sumi coming in assisted the beni and in person looks thick and floats on the skin. Im hoping yo get some growth out of is this year but extreamly surprised by the positive changes so far
