      insulation

Moving fish to unheated garage to intex pool any suggestions ? is there anything that would stop or help slow down the cold from the cement floor besides a blanket or rug, is there any kind of insulation for that ?

      Polystyrene or polyurethane sheets.

Insulation found in cold room and freezer room walls.

      Very efficient.

I agree I think you can get sheets that are about 2 inches thick that should really help, it's pink and usually a foil on one side I know Home Depot and places like that carry it should be pretty easy to find I think that's your best bet. And to make certain that the pool doesn't sag down into the cracks between the pieces of insulation I would lay down a tarp on top of the insulation

where will the inter pool be located - indoor still? I used an intex pool in the summer whilst expanding my pond and it had pretty large fluctuations in temp between day / night.
Main pond 4000 US Gallon, 22 Koi. Oase Proficlear Premium + Bio Module, Bitron 120 w UVC, Bakki Shower, Dura 7+ ashp. Grow on tank 600 Gallons with Eazypod Automatic and 70 litre K1 biochamber.

Yes inside a garage does foil side go down or up.

Typically the foil goes towards the warm side but with no air space it won't really matter.

Some of the foil backed foam insulation is not closed cell and will soak up water.

For the floor directly under the Intex pool place high density closed cell expanded foam sheets such as Foamular 250. This type of foam will never soak up water and the high density types also support weight. There are also other brands. For the sides of the pool wrap with reflective bubble or just plain plastic bubble insulation. Very easy to wrap around the sides and it won't hold moisture.

Cover the pool to control humidity in the room. It's more effective and less cost to insulate and control evaporation from the pool VS insulating and controlling humidity in the garage.

Everyone thanks , BWG thanks for all the help and pictures but wont the 2 inch foam 250 insulation get crushed by the weight of the water ? And i like the idea of covering the pool to keep the heat and humidity in but doesnt that stop the toxic gasses from escaping ?

Assuming you’re pumping air in, no it won’t stop gas build up escaping, it would need to be totally air tight for that to happen. My main pond and QT in the garage are both covered (as airtight as I could manage)with zero issues on that front.

I also tried celotex insulation boards under the QT and they didn’t work for me, they compressed too much, I ended up using a double layer of rug under it.

Foam products such as Foamular 250 have a compressive strength of 25 psi. Easily enough to hold an Intex pool full of water without compressing. Make sure to use the high density types of XPS foam.

wish I put this under my intex. I want to heat the 1400 gallons but don't want to drain it and i have my rdf height set just right. wonder if insulating the sides and doing a hoop house would be best? i want my tosai to grow and also keep water above 50 degrees. running electric heaters costs alot but if I can contain the heat it might be worth it

And just for the record, several layers of carpet on a concrete floor under an Intex in an unheated garage does almost nothing.
