Journey of a young ginrin shiro utsuri

Here is my ginrin shiro utsuri from a local farm in rural Blitar, Indonesia.

I obtained this shiro in late 2016. The fish doesnt look too promising at that point but the breeder promised me a surprise should I am willing and patient enough to grow it out.
Sure enough some 3 months later the sumi started to develop a bit and overall shiroji improves.

Much later on in early August 2017 .... the ugly shiro utsuri transformed into a short-body type of koi, well bulk conformation type of fish.
It may not be growing large, but all the sumi promise does show and ginrin quality stays good.
I wonder if the sumi on the head will ever come back in near future.

Just a note. A Gin Shiro is not the same as a GR Shiro so you have to be careful about what you are calling the Koi. When I read your response my first thought was 'what Gin Shiro?'. I am attaching a picture of a Doitsu Gin Shiro but a Gin Shiro is a metallic Shiro.

Thumbsup for the correction of koi variety.

I shall be waiting for more sumi surprises in the near future

Are you talking about the pointy black area on the forehead, between the eyes?
I learned here, that's actually the skull/brain showing and that eventually it clears up as the fish grows and the skin thickens.

I see it especially on Shusui/Asagi, Kumonryu/Matsukawabake, and Shiro Utsuri tosai...Not so much on the Gosanke or other varieties, not sure why.

Fast forward to nisai progress, photo taken in march 2018.

Just for curiosity. I shall look forward to bowling this koi again very soon to show any differences now it reached the age of sansai, and perhaps it wont change as much anymore.

I love boys with thick frame and nice girth. Some call them she-males.
I will bowl and record this shiro in the next coming months and make sure how the vent shows up.

Cross my fingers its a male, as I have witnessed it chases a spawning female some months ago.

The dark shade on the skull is an interesting thing. Now always sinking sumi but more of the skull structure showing out from young thin skin

As long as the males get enough food they will grow big and long. less color food needed
