I bought five new GF late in the spring for the pond and they were about 3+ inches at the time. I lost the 5th one somehow; I'm not sure what got it. Anyway, these fish have always been skittish and wold not come up to feed when anyone was around. So today was the day to bring them in, as the water temp is starting to get too cold for feeding. I expected a challenge catching them, as the pond is pretty deep. But I managed to round them up pretty quickly. One looks like a standard Comet and the other three are much bigger and very colourful. The odd thing is that they also have barbels. The wife commented that the fat one looks big enough to eat. He declined the offer. He pretty much spans a 5 gallon bucket.
Anyway, I assume these are just some kind of regular GF with possibly some Koi in the mix? Although I'm glad that they are nice fish, at the rate they are growing, they might challenge my indoor tank by spring. My indoor tank is 90 gallons with a 55 gallon sump and I change about 20 gallons a day.
Any thoughts on what kind of fish these are?
