      Bent tail

I ordered some koi and one of them, a Butterfly Shusui, came in with a bent tail . The seller is pretty reputable as far as I could tell and the other two I ordered looks amazing. I attached photos, it is pretty blurry but you can see. It isn't very bad but it is pretty noticeable. I don't imagine the seller would send me one with deformity...Is this something common and would it gets worse? Is there anything I can do to help straightening it out?

Sorry, but that was obvious and should have been noticed BEFORE it left the shop. This is a genetic defect since birth. Nothing you can do to change that. I'd be contacting the dealer to make it right.

This is upsetting. Because this Shusui wasn't the koi that I bought to start off with. The seller said the one I ordered got scuffed and they will not shipped out a flawed koi. So they shipped out this as replacement even before they let me know......and then I end up with one with a bent tail at birth and doesn't even has the red pattern of the original one I ordered. Thank you. I contacted the seller. I hope they make this right...poor fish though. Bent tail doesn't seem to bother it any. Swim and eat normally.

I hope the seller doesn't expect you to kill it with a picture for a refund. The ones that do **** me off.

I hope not. I wouldn't want refund then. I didn't know that there are sellers that would do something like that.

Yeah, as long as it isn't crooked!lol j/k

This is total BS. Their excuse doesn't cut it either. These types are all over the internet! They should have contacted you FIRST and informed you of the situation with the one you did purchase. They most likely sold it twice and got more money from someone else. This is fraud and you should let them know that as well as demand a refund of your purchase of the original fish. You can also post to the "vendor feedback" forum and inform the rest of us about this dealer as an alert to stay away from doing business with them. I would inform them first, that that's what you'll be doing if they don't refund your money.

I thought it was very weird when I received that message too. My thought exactly, it it was sold to someone else that were willing to pay more. I find that to be a lack of business integrity. Of course it was even weirder that the message was sent after the fact that they already shipped the koi out instead offering a refund, or at least let me see the fish first. If I was shown the fish first, I wouldn't accept it because it is a completely different quality from the one I original bought, and of course the bent tail.

I am messaging them now, they are saying they can't see the pictures I have sent and that they didn't think it has a bent tail when shipped out. Disregarding the whole thing about the koi having almost no red on it. I give them a little more time to make it right, or I would do as exactly as you suggested.

shady on the dealers part. you should be offered a better fish and not one with a crooked tail. many good dealers bite the bullet to make the customers happy. I dont want to get into names.but we have a few here that make it right!

Definitely shady. I wish I got a better dealer. I am new to keeping koi, even though I had kept goldfish for years, but I figured a long term experienced dealer would know the difference in the quality of koi. Didn't expect this at all....

Name and shame, here it is on vendor feedback. I gave them time to make it right and they seem to be ignoring me.

I recommend sending something to Ebay directly. You may be able to get the account suspended until he deals with you.

Seems like maybe a bait and switch thing going on here. Good luck getting it resolved.
