      koi in quarentine

hi all I'm new to the site ..having koi for about 7 years I have now build them a proper home..after having a few health issues to and from the koi shop for them to do scrapes all parasites are cleared
I do though have 1 13inch cream ogen in quarantine he has a bit of tail rot and has green fungus on the side of the head ...
question is do I leave the green hairy stuff to fall off or should I attempt to clean it (if so what with ).I am treating with acriflavine how long should I expect my koi to be in quarantine .this is the first time I have had to set up a tank.
my pond paramiters are spot on 6500 litres gravity fed easy pod ea 25w uv 10000 lph return pump aerated bottom drain.

      any advice would be appreciated.

The green is Saprolegnia, a fungus that is treated with Proform C.

What are you using the acriflavine for? Another purpose?

I don't know if the Proform C is available in the UK, but the product is a blend of formalin and malachite green. I believe the portion that is most effective for the fungus is the malachite green, but the two have some synergistic properties enhancing each other.

Different meds there. Is it this https://www.orchardfisheries.co.uk/kusuri-acriflavine

this would be closer to the proform c https://www.orchardfisheries.co.uk/t...alachite-green

If the tail rot is caused by parasites, it would help. Bacterial, I don't think so.

I would be doing water changes daily, on Proform C, I do 20% between each treatment. Any chance of a picture of the tail?

I believe the instructions with the fmg is to do a 25% water change before each of the three daily treatments. Since the fish are supposed to be parasite free, you might be able to stop treatments when you see the fungus gone, but I would do all three treatments, just in case or just because.

No, the 3 treatments would be daily. If it is not gone within a week, we would need to reevaluate treatment.
