      Are these anything special?

I've got 2 koi that are each about a foot long. I guess they are about 3, they live in my pond with 5 comets. I know nothing else about them.

Are they anything special other than pretty fish?
      Thanks,
      Jeff

The first is a Yamabuki Ogon that appears to be rather decent. A bit fat but overall okay. Probably female with eggs. The second looks like a butterfly mix but somewhat Hi Shusui, just too messy with all that black speckling. Mostly a fun fish for the pond and you to enjoy.

I like the Yamabuki Ogon. If they are just 3 years old, they could still grow quite a bit more over time.

I really like your yamabuki ogon.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I really don't know much about koi varieties. Isn't the butterfly a type of doitsu?

Somewhat correct. Doitsu is the Japanese word for German (Deutsche). But, they actually are not all scaleless. If you look closely at the one posted here, there are a line of scales along the dorsal ridge. Some also have a lateral line on both sides and some, referred to as mirror carp, have a nearly complete covering of various size scales.
