      Seminole Pumpkin

A American native squash that was an important part of the diet for the indigenous peoples in Florida, Cucurbita moschata or Seminole Pumpkins grow in the Florida summer when little else can survive the heat and humidity. In my past of SW Fl, we can harvest them pretty much year round. The mature fruit reminds me of a butternut squash, but we cut up the small green fruits to use in a salad or saute, and the male blooms make for a tasty treat either raw n salads or stuffed with a cheese and baked.

We put in a mixed seed pk of gourds and pumkins this year I am amazed at how well they are doing during this hot summer. I didn,t realize until this thread that some of them are native to hot areas
