      Doitsu Kohaku? Hariwake? Kawari?

What variety is this koi? Most often, this is asked about a new koi, but this orange and white male is my oldest, that my wife picked up 20 years ago for $10 at a garden and landscape center. He's linear scaled Doitsu. The smooth scaleless white tends to reflect the light just a little, but it does not seem metallic like a hariwake. Not sure if orange and white non-metallic technically makes it a Doitsu kohaku, but with the light orange scattered pattern, it does not look related to any kohaku I have seen. Or would this fall into the kawari category?

These 3 pictures are from 2017, 2014, and 2004 respectively:

You're thoughts about Hariwake are correct. It's not one. As to whether it would be classified as Kohaku or Kawari the quality would be better placed in Kawari but based on the dorsalized pattern, I would have to say Kohaku. Glad you've enjoyed it for all these years with little changes.

Thanks Mike. I had not thought about the pattern in that way. (And it wasn't for lack of time. )
