HI All,
I was wanting to clean up a large pond at my home to make it swimable but hey why not have some colorful fish for my young girls. It measures 180 x 65 feet and is a consistent 6 foot deep with 1 to 1 slope around the edges. I calculate approx 430,000 gallon. It was dug 10 or 15 years ago by previous owner and landscaped nicely but surely no liner. It stays full on it's own from groundwater and a tile line supposedly from neighbors hobby farm field. I've seen it drop only 1 foot in August when we r watering the lawn heavily. (Irrigation source) The pond turns green and has an odor on and off through out the summer. I have installed a wind powered aerator with 2 air stones . Pond looks better after only a couple days. There are already sunfish, frogs, crayfish and turtles. Also a muskrat and blue heron regularly. Any and all suggestions appreciated please.
Thanks,
JAmie
