nice. so basically instead of having to install the bypass typically needed to flush the screen, the Jeff mod allows you to flush it from underneath the screen. maybe Jeff ca explain it better

You should still backwash the sieve the way Zac designed it , My mod allows the screen to be pressure washed without having to remove it. I've found that a hi pressure nozzle on the end of a garden hose works just fine .

Hi catfish whiskers/Jeff?... sounds like you have first hand experience with the Zakki sieve. I do have a general understanding that it's a pre-filter for pressurized systems, which in my case is a direct suction from bottom drain/skimmer through leaf basket/pump then into my Ultima II 6000. So the question is this... Would the sieve help separate that much poop and gunk out before the pump chews it up and dump into the Ultima II? 1)hence providing clearer water? and 2)reduce ammonia in the water and lightening the load for the bacteria to have to work?

Adding some content while trying not to be shunned... My pond is over stocked, but I am outputting the Ultima II 6000 to a 55 gallon drum with 100 liters of K1-ish moving media, and also have a second filter circuit through an Ultima II 10,000. I do have crystal clear water, but still have to do multiple water changes a week to manage water quality. Just wondering if investigating in the Zakki sieve would help enough.

LOL. Although true, where's the fun in that? But the truth is, I'm cramming for knowledge and get hands-on experience. I can take the easy route and raise only 5 kois, feed once a day, and backwash/water change once a week(or less), but I'd would only get to read about most of these issues/discussions/topics and not fully understand or experience it myself. Some day I'll be at your level and be able to relax with my 2 kohaku, 1 showa, 1 sanke, and 1 yamabuki.

Just typing typing out the list of 5 kois made me realize that no way will I be satisfied. haha
