Don't acorns float so they'd be picked up by a skimmer?

I don't have any info but I'd imagine it'd better if you could remain level all the way to the first filter although
realistically I don't think it's often possible in most ponds. I think a good compromise is to add a clean-out at
a lower level but iirc your swimming pond is planned to be 8' deep so rising 3' you'd still be entering the first
gravity fed filter at ~5' below water level? If so that's plenty deep and if I was concerned about clogging I'd just
add a clean out via a wye fitting straight to waste at the lowest level on the BD pipe, so it would be possible to
open a valve and have an enormous amount of flow to waste and it'd clear any debris that might have stuck in
the pipe. I used 2 45* fittings as opposed to a single 90* on my BD plumbing to keep clogging down to a minimum
and it seems to have worked on mine.

Arborists often gather acrorns for tree planting and use the float test to determine viability. The bad ones that have insect damage or are immature float and the good ones that have better germination sink. We had a group come out to collect acrorns and when they sorted them by the float test more sunk than floated.

We built a 10,000gal pond for a client at the top of the Santa Cruz mountains who had nearly full coverage of large old oak trees surrounding the upper side of the property. He finally followed our early suggestion and removed three of them as after the first season, one bottom drain was completely blocked up by acorns and he was constantly removing them from his sieve on a daily basis! As BWG said, a few float, the rest sink!lol

Good pictures that really show the size of the project.
Those steps should be a challenge with using a liner.

What are you filtering this pond with
I have done a few of these
      A little big
Filtration is the most important thing
      Turnover once an hour minimal

Yeah . I thought about it. Any idea? the shape you se in the picture is just to see how it would look. The dirt there would be also to hold lots of pressure on that area. Any idea on how to minimize liner's wrinkles? maybe with fewer steps?

Maybe a ladder instead? Or make the steps after the liner is in?
This is the only time I can remember seeing them in a build with a liner... not sure how well it worked in the long term
but Lee stops in every now and then so you might reach out to him to see if he has any suggestions:
