What is the flow rate and how are you feeding it?
The skimmer feeds a 1/6 hp W.Lim pump (http://wlimproducts.com/wave1.htm) rated at ~4000 gph at 10 feet and feeds two birdman sand/gravel filters, which gravity-feed the weir.
Actual flow - that's a good question. Based on the weir being 18" wide and the water being about 1/2" thick (a guess - haven't measured it yet), this thread (https://www.koiphen.com/forums/showth...ation-question) says the flow is only around 1800 gph. Given that 3" pipe was used everywhere, that seems low, but it's not a big enough problem to worry about though.

The weir waterfall is working great - except part of it is rusting! This is "impossible" since 316 stainless was used and fusion-welded, meaning no filler rod was used. I suspect I was sold some "stainless" that wasn't; a bummer since not only did it cost a premium, but fixing it is more work than it's worth. Maybe I'll have it powder-coated, maybe not. Not sure how to avoid this from happening again. It's fairly easy to tell the difference between stainless and mild steel, but difference between stainless alloys is near-impossible if it isn't factory-marked.

Most likely because of contamination from iron or steel dust. I don't know if you use separate tools for each type of steel. I have separate brushes and grinding wheels for each.
