      YAY I GOT A NEW KOI

      It's a kohaku i got for $25. I i really like the pattern (2 step, right?) and also the inverted U on it's head... it's really cute
      Anyways i think it's a pretty good koi for $25 what do you think
      i got it at tse koi not sure what breeder though
      it's a girl right? -> large round pectoral fins

      Glad you're happy with this one, but it does appear to be a male. Notice the "thicker" front rays on the pec fins. Size can help read sex but not with any reliability. Of course, the leading ray doesn't ALWAYS mean anything, but usually it's a better indicator. And knowing what grade of fish Tom brings in, I'd say male. You did good for $25 for a fish to learn from. Skin looks decent and so does the evenness of the beni throughout. Good luck and try to post a few pics in the late fall around November so we can compare then to now!
