      Name That Plant

Anyone know the name of this? I've got to transplant it because I'm taking some more trees out and it'll get pulverized if
I don't and wanted to read about it:

      Name: 20170623_123634.jpg
Views: 143
Size: 155.7 KB

It's about 12"-18" high, leaves are about 10" across and has weird ball shaped purple blooms. It's in a shady area with hostas
      and ferns right now...

Not sure but do you have to move all of the plants in the picture?

Not really... the ferns and stuff grow like weeds and I have to rip them out just to keep them from overtaking everything
else. I split the hostas up and gave some to my sister and I'll probably move some. They're pretty tough and even if they
get flattened they seem to come back the next year anyways.

I usually don't have weeds like that around here... I think it's "something".

I agree that it doesn't look like a weed or you would be seeing them other places in your yard too.

Never seen anything like it but it could stand a better picture too much glare on that one

I found nothing that looked like it in my wildflowers book I am with Cindy it does look like it comes from the cucurbit family but I know of none with purple blooms

Thanks Gordana, I might try that! I was thinking the same thing that they need an app like facial recognition but for plants.

      More pictures I can do...

It's about done flowering so the one bloom is surrounded by what's left after the flowers are spent:

Steve, your plant is very may apple-y. check out the link i sent above. the one i sent has a purple bloom, but the ones i have have a single white flower coming from the crux of the two-leaved plant. it's a wildflower. not saying i've nailed it, but --- maybe. the fruit will also tell a lot.

Thanks Max! I'll let the seeds/fruit develop and see what they look like. The leaves do look really close...

I downloaded the Leafsnap app but they're kind of limited and only list Northeastern, NY, and Wash. D.C. for locations.

I asked on a couple of plant id forums too and the consensus was indeed, a variation of the Chinese Mayapple!

Thanks everyone for looking and great call Max!
